Marianne Konvalinka
My
love affair with the mountains and high desert began when my family moved from
Chicago, where I was born, to Denver. While my parents looked around stunned by
the lack of trees, I gazed in wonder at the Rockies and big blue sky. I lived in
Dallas (flat, flat, flat!) and Seattle (claustrophobic!) before settling in
Boise 12 years ago. Through my paintings, I hope to share the sense of peace and the awe that comes to me in the great wide open. The mountains and big western skies have always helped me put my life in perspective, simultaneously reminding me of how small my concerns are in the scheme of things & offering endless possibilities. Digital photography (with a little help from the computer) helps me convey the magic I feel hiding just out of sight. I have begun experimenting with enhanced digital photography & mixed media to express a spiritual sense of the natural world.
