I
am attracted to the colors and feelings of a new experience.
The thrill of a roller coaster ride, the discovery of a new friendship or the
exhilaration of an unexpected journey.
The new experience is always accompanied by a curiosity of what lies ahead. I paint to provoke that curiosity in others as well as myself. My subject matter includes animals, people and symbols of significance in my life. With this I build a picture of curious excitement.
Animals have a soft spot in my heart and a huge role in my life. The connection pets make with their humans is fascinating. Do our furry friends understand us? Do they miss us when we are gone? Do they own us? Perhaps the greatest unknown is the thought process of an animal. My paintings capture scenarios and expressions of such that you can’t help but ask your own questions.
In my oil paintings I use bright colors and a combination of hard and soft lines to bring the moment to life. The rich colors of oil make the images seem dreamlike, exploding with energy and capturing the eye. The combination of oil and subject matter absorb my emotions and reflect them back to the viewer.
